Public listings. Clear privacy choices.
We use personal information to run Windsporter, connect members, support listings and messages, and administer the giveaway. Your public profile and listings can be seen and shared by others. You can ask us about your information, request corrections or account closure, and raise a privacy concern.

Information we collect
- Account and profile details: your name, username, email address, authentication details, and the phone, postal code, location or profile information requested during registration or supplied by you. A city or region may be derived from your postal code to support local listings.
- Listings and community content: descriptions, prices, condition details, photos, listing status, reviews and other content you submit.
- Conversations and support: messages and attachments you send through Windsporter, enquiries, reports of problems and our responses.
- Contest records: listings submitted for consideration, review decisions, entries, agreement version, account and acceptance time, draw administration and information needed to contact a winner or arrange a prize.
- Technical and usage information: IP addresses, browser/device information, requested pages, timestamps, diagnostic or security logs, saved preferences and notification subscriptions. These help deliver and protect the service.
- Location you provide or permit: search areas, place-search queries and, if you choose “My location” and allow the browser request, device coordinates.
Do not put passwords, payment-card information, government identification or another person’s private information into public listings or ordinary chat messages. Check your photos for personal details before posting them.
If you choose Facebook sign-in, we receive the account identifier and profile information Facebook makes available with your permission, such as your name, email address and profile photo. We use these details and the authentication information needed to connect your account and sign you in. We do not receive your Facebook password. Facebook also handles information under its own privacy practices. You can request deletion of information associated with Facebook sign-in through our Data Deletion Instructions.
Why we use it
We use information to create and maintain accounts; display and search listings; help members find gear nearby and contact one another; deliver requested messages and notifications; answer support requests; review listings and enforce community rules; prevent misuse; maintain and improve the service; and meet applicable legal obligations.
Contest information is used to assess eligibility, keep entry and agreement records, administer draws, contact winners and arrange prizes. Entering the giveaway does not by itself subscribe you to unrelated marketing. Any promotional email programme must provide an appropriate choice and a way to unsubscribe.
We ask for further consent where required before using information for a materially different purpose. We do not sell personal information or give members’ private contact lists to other businesses for their unrelated marketing.
Public content and messages
Your public profile and listings may display your name or username, profile photo, gear photos, descriptions, prices, status, reviews and approximate area. Information you include in public text or photos can also become public. Public content may be indexed by search engines, shared by link, copied or saved by others.
Messages are shared with their intended participants and handled by our service providers. Authorized Windsporter personnel may access relevant account, listing or message information when needed for support, security, moderation or legal obligations. A conversation with another member is not confidential from that recipient: they can keep or share what you send them.
Arrange precise pickup details and other sensitive contact information carefully. Information another person has already copied or received may remain with them after you remove your own listing or account.
Service providers and sharing
We use providers to host and maintain Windsporter, store and back up data, deliver email or browser notifications, provide maps and place search, and help with security and technical support. Our website and account platform runs on Odoo/Odoo.sh. Maps and place-search features use Google Maps; browser notification services may include Google/Firebase and your browser’s push provider.
Providers receive information needed for their role. Some services, including maps and notification networks, also process technical information under their own policies. When Google features load, Google may receive your IP address, device/browser details and related search or location requests. See Google’s Privacy Policy. Some images are delivered by external image servers, which receive the requests needed to display them.
Information may be stored or processed outside Canada, including in countries where our providers operate, and may be subject to those countries’ laws and lawful access requests. Contact our privacy contact for information about our use of providers outside Canada.
We may disclose information with your consent, to arrange a prize with a donor or delivery provider when needed, to comply with law, or where legally permitted to investigate misuse or protect people and the service. If the business is reorganized or transferred, any transfer of personal information must remain subject to appropriate protections and applicable notice requirements.
Retention and security
We keep information while it is needed for the purposes described here. Account content is generally kept while your account and listings remain active. Messages, moderation, security, agreement and contest records may need to remain longer to resolve issues, preserve legitimate records and meet legal obligations. We delete or de-identify information when it is no longer reasonably needed; backup copies are removed through the normal backup lifecycle.
We use reasonable administrative, technical and access safeguards for the information we handle. No website or transmission method is completely secure. Keep your account credentials private and report suspected unauthorized access promptly. We will assess security incidents and give required notices under applicable law.
Marking a listing Sold keeps its earned contest entry in the draws while the listing remains on Windsporter. You can still request removal or account closure; we will explain any effect on contest eligibility and any limited records we must retain. Contest participation does not remove your privacy rights.
Your choices and requests
You can update available profile and listing details through your account, limit the information you publish, adjust browser permissions, and use unsubscribe controls for optional promotional messages.
Contact us to request access to personal information we hold about you, correction of inaccurate information, account closure or removal, information about our handling practices, or withdrawal of consent where applicable. We may need enough information to verify your identity and protect other people’s information. We respond within the time required by applicable law and explain any lawful limits on a request.
Some information or permissions are needed to operate an account or requested feature. Withdrawing them may prevent that feature from working. We do not ask members to post children’s information; contact us if you believe a young person’s information has been provided without necessary consent.
Contact and complaints
For a privacy question, access/correction request or complaint, call 587-705-0777 and ask for Windsporter’s privacy contact at Click Theory Ltd. Tell us the request concerns Windsporter so it reaches the right person. We can arrange the appropriate channel for any written request or sensitive information.
You can also contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, as applicable. Other privacy rights and complaint routes may apply where you live.
We will post updates here with a revised date and provide further notice or seek consent where required for a material change. Read our Terms of Use for the community and listing rules.
